Heritage Mall and Altrusa Club of Albany will host their seventh Annual KidzShop event on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the mall.

The event annually provides 325 needy children from Linn and Benton counties with an opportunity to shop for back-to-school clothes and supplies.  Participating studies are pre-selected by agencies and schools based on their personal needs and circumstances.

Each of the children will have a volunteer to help the child shop at stores in the mall. Each child will have $100 to spend. Altrusa, which organizes the event, raised nearly $33,000 from businesses and individuals to fund the event.

Volunteers for KidzShop include police, firefighters, teachers and employees of businesses supporting the event. Old Navy, Payless Shoe-Source, rue 21, Sears and MasterCuts are participating mall stores.

Heritage Mall is conducting a sock drive prior to the event which will allow customers to participate and donate a new pair of socks to the cause.
