HERITAGE MALL ADDS RENOWNED
CARINO’S ITALIAN TO RESTAURANT LINEUP
Albany, OR: Steadfast Commercial Properties has announced the addition of internationally-known Carino’s Italian to their lineup of restaurants at Heritage Mall in Albany, Oregon. The only enclosed center in a two-county area and the dominant regional mall in its primary trade area, Heritage Mall is anchored by Target, Sears, Gottschalks, Ross Dress for Less and a recently opened Old Navy. Carino’s operates 165 restaurants in the U.S. and over a half-dozen overseas.
In announcing the new addition, Steadfast Vice President of Acquisitions, Development & Asset Management, Dean L. Curci, said “Steadfast is looking forward to the opening of Carino’s Italian next summer. They will be a welcome attraction to Heritage Mall and will fill a void for family-priced Italian dining in Albany. We feel Carino’s exciting ‘open kitchen’ architecture, distinctive style and fantastic menu selection will be extremely popular with customers and will draw traffic from miles around.” In addition to their new Carino’s Italian, Heritage Mall currently hosts a wide variety of Food Court eateries, along with freestanding Pizza Hut and Red Robin restaurants.
Following the center’s purchase by Steadfast in October of 2005, the property has undergone a complete renovation and redevelopment program. An ongoing remerchandising effort remains focused on attracting more national retailers.
These recent changes at Heritage Mall have been well received by Albany’s local business community. The city’s Community Development Director, Helen Burns Sharp, praised the coming of Carino’s Italian as part of the continuing improvements at the center.
“With Heritage Mall so beautifully renovated and all its new stores, the area where the center is located has become a magnet for retail development in Albany and surrounding communities,” said Sharp. “Also, our local residents have long wanted a quality, family-priced Italian eatery. They say Carino’s is a great restaurant and would be very well received in Albany.”
That same opinion is shared by Greg Hubert, owner of the new Carino’s Italian at Heritage Mall. A 29-year veteran of the restaurant business, and one of the original founders of the Red Robin chain, Hubert says, “the signature items at Carino’s are really extraordinary –plus a super value for the price – and we plan to make this a little slice of Italy, with a warm family environment.” Hubert already operates two Carino’s located in Bend, Oregon and Skagit Valley, Washington.
Groundbreaking for the Heritage Mall Carino’s Italian begins in January 2008 for a planned mid-summer opening.
